Our version of a Bloody Caesar with a twist. Built for the gin and seafood lover, it is slightly thicker than a traditional Bloody Caesar and packs an incredible one two punch of crispness and bite. The Coastal Mary is my personal favorite. It was a ton of fun creating and even more fun watching people’s reactions once they grabbed a taste. I wanted to develop another blend that was completely different than the Original but still contained the same intense, premium flavor profile. We focused on two characteristics that this mix was built around, gin and seafood. Gin because it is the most underestimated spirit when paired with Bloody Marys, and seafood because I live on the East Coast. This is my version of a Bloody Caesar except it is thicker and has an extremely powerful flavor. It starts out crisp and smooth with the addition of clam juice, and finishes strong with flavors coming from a Japanese seasoning, Togarashi.
As stated before, the Coastal Mary was built for gin and seafood. When choosing your type of gin, we tend to go with the brands that are not so juniper heavy. It interacts amazingly with the mix releasing an army of flavors. This is ideally served in a tall highball glass with a few key garnishes such as tuna sashimi, wasabi blue cheese stuffed olives, and substitute crisp cucumber instead of celery. Choose a nice fresh piece of sushi grade tuna and skewer the stuffed olives right with it. Top it all off with a dash of Japanese 7-spice.
